Black
Black--it’s the color of night.
Black--it’s the absence of light.
It’s a classification, of what our society
is facin.
Many think only the poor are black.
Give a little slack.
Unhand these thoughts.
Do what you ought, to look past this problem.
Try to escape them.
Black--it’s a skin color.
Black--it’s like no other.
It’s a race that tries to face everyday perils
that come along.
These people walk long, treacherous roads
of hate and discrimination of this great
nation.
Some are light, some are dark.
Try to hark the namecalling.
Quit stalling.
Do something.
Lights are “beige”, high yellow”, “caramel”,
or “honey”.
Darks are “chocolate” or “brownie.”
If you’re black, why give yourself flack?
To all my brothas and sistas, be proud of
your color.
Let it show.
Don’t listen to those other people.
Let your color shine.
From dark to light, you’ll be in the right.
Be yourself, no one else.
Black--love it, live it, cherish it.
