Chase the Sun
Raindrops caress my skin.
I feel happiness within.
I look out at the horizon.
I see the slowly lowering sun.
Like a deer on the sprint,
Off I went.
I run, skip and jump through the rain.
My muscles hurt from all the strain.
Coming to a halt, I cool down.
I slowly look around.
The earth is verdant and wet.
Where’s the sun?
Have I caught it yet?
Gazing up, I see the yellow rays.
I could lay in them for days.
Regaining my composure,
I cease this exposure.
I start running again.
Hope flourishes within.
As I catch up to the sun,
I feel my job is done.
