In this year’s draft many scouts see no clear superstars but the top 15 should have a bright NBA futures. A player who we feel should have a strong impact in this year’s class is Rudy Gay of U Conn., whom I compare a lot to Camelo Anthony of Denver. One reason Guy is not better known, is due to the talent level at U Conn last year. The minutes on a team as deep as U Conn did not allow Guy to showcase his talent night in and night out. LaMarcus Aldridge of Texas became one of the best big men in college basketball last year. His hard work and shot blocking ability and his mental preparation will make him a can’t miss big man. Andrea Barganani, who many in Europe feel will be the next superstar from Europe. Barganani is said to be the next Dirk Nowitzki. Barganani is between 6’11” and 7’ and like many of the other bigs from Europe has great fundamentals. Barganani, 20 years old, has been a pro 4 years in Italy. A great passer and shooter, he has good range from the three-point arc. Many feel he could be the number one pick. This year’s draft should be laced with some outstanding point guards. Marcus Williams, from …U-Conn. took advantage of his talented teammates in college and dropped quite a few dimes. He has good size for an NBA point guard. He is also a good rebounder and a great free throw shooter. Williams is a great decision maker on the fast break and a textbook floor general. If there is any weakness, it's his ability to shot the outside shot and his past legal problems. The next point guard should be Rajon Rondo, who is one the best open court players in this draft. Rondo is a great rebounder and has an uncanny ability to steal the ball. His outside shot has been reportedly improving and his leadership ability has surprised all the scouts.
